Party at Exeter BHF shop
Shop staff and volunteers at the Exeter British Heart Foundation (BHF) Furniture & Electrical store are hosting a party on Wednesday 27th August from 11am to 3pm to thank locals for their support over the past year. The party will take place at the Exeter BHF Furniture & Electrical store, located on Cheeke Street, Exeter.
Thanks to the Exeter community, BHF shops in Devon have raised £1,390,000 for the BHF over the past year. This staggering amount has enabled the BHF to fund 166 defibrillators, seven heart support groups and 26 health care professionals in the local area.
The Exeter Furniture & Electrical store is holding the event, which is open to all, to thank residents for their volunteering hours, donations and purchases. Entry is free, but party-goers are encouraged to bring a bag of donations with them, which could include anything from clothes, accessories, CDs and DVDs, to small electricals like DVD players, hair-dryers, kettles and toasters.
Andy Dare, BHF Area Manager, says: “We’re truly overwhelmed with the ongoing generosity of the local community in Exeter. We’re so grateful to all our supporters and want to thank every single person who has joined us in the fight against heart disease, which is why we’re throwing a party in their honour. It’s also a great opportunity for us to say thank you to our hard-working volunteers and staff, without whom we wouldn’t be able to raise these vital funds.”
“We couldn’t help to provide any life-saving equipment or research in Exeter without the support of the community so we hope they join us to celebrate and give themselves a pat on the back on Wednesday 27th August.”
Around 116 people die from coronary heart disease (CHD) in Exeter every year, but with continued support from local people, the BHF can fight harder to reduce this figure. CHD is the UK’s single biggest killer, causing approximately 74,000 deaths in the UK every year1.
All the money raised from the Exeter store will help the BHF fund pioneering research to continue its fight for every heartbeat. By gift aiding your donations, the BHF will raise more money from your unwanted things, and it’s completely free.
