Pedestrian dies after being hit by car
Police in East Devon are appealing for information following a fatal road traffic collision on the A35 in Kilmington.
The incident happened at approximately 9.09 last night (Thursday 21 August), on the A35 at the area adjacent to the bus shelter and the Old Inn Public House car park in Kilmington.
A single vehicle (Volkswagen Polo) travelling towards Honiton was in collision with a pedestrian.
The casualty, a local woman in her early 80s, was taken by ambulance to the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital in Exeter where she died soon after.
The driver of the vehicle, a local woman, was uninjured.
The road was closed for almost seven hours while the Serious Collision Investigation Unit completed an examination of the scene.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident and in particular to anyone who may have seen either the Volkswagen Polo, or the pedestrian, prior to the collision. Anyone with any information should call 101 quoting police reference 789 of 21 August 2014.
