A reunion dinner and a Christmas buffet brought to an end a busy year for the South West Group of the National Service (Royal Air Force) Association.

During 2013 members enjoyed a series of talks, trips, social gatherings and ceremonial events. The former covered a variety of topics such as the work of the Devon Air Ambulance, a presentation by the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service (followed by a visit to its headquarters) and a talk by a former RAF V-bomber pilot,

Members visited  Plymouth Naval Base Museum (including a tour of a retired nuclear submarine), the Haynes Motor Museum and  the open day at HMS Raleigh.

Members also participated in the Armed Forces Day event in Plymouth and were represented at the ceremony granting the Freedom of the City of Exeter to RAF Brize Norton.  They also took part in parades at the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas and at the Cenotaph in London.

New members are always welcome, and those who served their national service days in the Royal Air Force can obtain details of Association membership from the SW Group Organiser, Derek Lord, at 24 Middlewood, Cockwood, Starcross, Exeter EX6 8RN or phone 01626 890207.
