Scottish international rugby player at Exeter Golf and Country Club
Exeter Golf and Country Club played host to former Scottish international rugby player, Andy Irvine, at a lunch organised by leading property consultants Jones Lang LaSalle.
Andy, who notched up 51 caps for Scotland between 1972 and 1982, also played for the British and Irish Lions and managed their recent tour of Australia in 2013. He retired as international rugby’s all-time leading points-scorer and is considered to be the best attacking full back of his era, earning his place in the International Rugby Hall of Fame.
In addition to his rugby career, Andy Irvine is also a Chartered Surveyor and is Chairman of the Scottish division of Jones Lang LaSalle based in Edinburgh. He visited Exeter as a guest speaker at the company’s prestigious annual South West Market Review which takes place in Bristol, Exeter and Bath.
In advance of the event, Jones Lang LaSalle’s Exeter office hosted a more intimate lunch for thirty two of their clients at the Club.
Andy gave an inspirational speech , talking about his career, both on and off the rugby field, his various tours with the British and Irish Lions and his view of the future of rugby union.
Will Gannon, Chairman of Exeter Golf and Country Club and a keen rugby supporter, also attended the lunch. “Jones Lang LaSalle has worked closely with the Club on a number of projects so we were delighted to be able to host this event,” said Will.
“I was honoured to sit next to Andy Irvine, who is also a keen golfer, and I have invited him to come back to Exeter when the weather is a little better to join me in a round of golf.”
