More teams needed for New Futsal League
Exeter’s first ever futsal league has got off to a flying start - so much so that a new league is starting next month after much interest was shown in the short taster league, which finishes soon.
The competition has been set up to raise awareness of the benefits of playing futsal as opposed to traditional five-a-side football, and the Football in the Community Charity is looking for more five-a-side teams to join the men’s league in Exeter.
The new season will be starting on Sunday 10 February at St James High School in Summer Lane, Beacon Heath.
Futsal is a fast, exciting form of indoor football with five players per side and is all about quick, controlled passing and close-range shots. Futsal is one of the fastest growing sports in the world and is the only form of indoor football recognised by FIFA.
“We were delighted with the success of the taster league and are very keen to get the next season up and running,” says Jamie Vittles, the Head of Community. “If you play five-a-side with a group of friends or colleagues come and give futsal a go - you won’t be disappointed.”
All teams registering with the new league will receive free tickets for an Exeter City FC first-team fixture at St James Park. The only requirements for the league is that players need to be over 16 and wear trainers and shin pads, plus a playing strip, and the cost per game is £16.
