Sponsors sought for regional athletics events

Since its founding in 2010, the award winning South West Athletics Academy has been building up a portfolio of successful annual sporting events and activities. These are well supported by Westcountry athletes and grow year upon year.

With several major regional sporting events now planned over the coming months, Director of Coaching Sonya Ellis is seeking sponsor partnerships to improve the experience still further for volunteers, officials and athletes.

“Organising such large events is a great challenge. We want to make sure that athletes, officials and volunteers are rewarded with an outstanding experience both in the run up to the event and on the day itself. These events are very high profile and well regarded in the sporting calendar. There really are many opportunities to get your business involved”.

Major Summer events include the England Athletics SW Track and Field and Inter Counties Championships on Sunday 17 August 2014 at Exeter Arena and the Flanders Cup, Belgium in August.

The SW Champs attracts around 600 athletes from across the South West and is a great opportunity for some high profile business advertising. By contrast the Belgium trip is a chance for businesses that may wish to support aspiring athletes, the next Mo’s and Jessica’s, to gain their first international competitive experience. Events don’t just happen in the summer either.

The Academy runs the SW Cross Country Championships in January in partnerships with the National Trust. Killerton House is the glorious backdrop for this event and there are plenty of advertising opportunities for this packed day-long event.

Regular weekly clubs for mini and junior athletes run all year round and the Academy has a successful track record of working in partnership with schools and community initiatives to run exciting and fun activities using our crowd pleasing portable running track and our multi-activity indoor athletics equipment.
