Paul Tisdale’s preparations for Saturday’s trip to Northampton (3pm) were given a boost this week as Scot Bennett returned to training with the first team squad.

When the midfielder was stretchered off against Bristol Rovers 13 days ago fans and management feared the worst but scans showed just heavy bruising – much to the delight of Tisdale who told the local press that Bennett could return to action at Sixfields.

“He is back training and Scot has been told that there is no serious damage and he can go back through the pain he has,” he said. “It is a case of him pushing himself back to fitness.

“He is training so we’ll see what happens. It is sore but there is a chance he may be available Saturday."
