Life as a student in Exeter
Exeter has recently been revealed to be one of the most economical city in England in which to study, according to the NatWest Student Living Index 2016.
This year Exeter has ranked in position 5 in the Student Living Index 2016, making it the 5th most cost effective university city in the UK and one of the most cost effective places to study in England.
The research revealed the 25 most cost effective university cities in the UK by looking at a combination of low living costs and the earning potential for term-time jobs. Due to a combination of having a higher than average term-time income compared to any other university city and below average costs for items such as utility bills and clothes, Exeter has performed strongly in this year’s index.
When it comes to the university holidays, Exeter students don’t just slack off once term ends - they are the second highest earners during the holidays, after students in York.
In terms of balancing their time, Exeter students seem to get it just right. Whilst they spend about an average amount of time on their studies, they also spend more time than average on both socialising and hobbies, as well as volunteering and charity work.
The results of the index show Exeter to be a cost effective city in more ways than one, and demonstrate that Exeter is a great city for students to be living in this year.
