A national dog rescue charity is inviting people to come forward and offer a new home to a dog so magical, they have nicknamed him ‘Harry Pawter’.

Finding Furever Homes, which cares for dogs from throughout the South West, is keen to find two year old lurcher Harry a deserving new home as soon as possible and  is running an online social media campaign to find a home for Harry – preferably not under the stairs as his movie namesake was offered!

Andrea Newton, who co-founded the charity, said: “Harry really is a great dog. He has impeccable manners, walks beautifully on the lead and is calm and gentle, too. He spent two days with us at public fundraisers recently and adored all the attention he received.”

“As long as his new owner is Rescue Ready and willing to give Harry the exercise and stimulation he needs, he should settle in just fine. But as with all our dogs we can provide support in the form of a dog behaviourist to help new owners get a dog settled – part of our post-adoption service that we feel strongly about.”

The canine charity has recently been encouraging people to have dogs suggested for them based solely on their suitability. They believe they can find the #pawfectpal for adopters if they are willing to participate in their blind date experiment.

Although based in Shropshire, Finding Furever Homes would be happy to rehome him anywhere in England or Wales, subject to suitable home checks.

Andrea said: “We might call him ‘Harry Pawter’, but sadly we lack the magic wand to find him a new owner. He is such a fantastic dog, we just need someone who can give him a fresh start and a furever home – visitors are sure to fall under his spell.”
