Bristol-based St. John’s Chambers, the premier barrister set in the South West with over 80 barristers including seven silks, hosts the national Headway Brain Injury Rehabilitation Conference for the second year running.

Headway Bristol invited St. John’s Chambers’ Personal Injury Team, which provides first class legal representation and advice to businesses and individuals across the country, to organise the charity’s national 2012 conference following the success of last year’s event.  Sponsored by Irwin Mitchell, the conference attracted over 150 legal practitioners throughout the UK and raised £5,500 for the charity which promotes understanding of all aspects of brain injury.

The full-day national conference held at the prestigious Marriott Royal Hotel in Bristol was preceded with an evening drinks reception sponsored by Frenkel Topping and attended by over 50 guests including representatives from Headway Bristol.  Returning speaker and leading Consultant Neuropsychiatrist, Dr. Holloway opened the conference with a discussion on rehabilitation pathways following traumatic brain injury.  St John’s leading Personal Injury barrister Tim Grice chaired the proceedings focusing on brain injury rehabilitation.   Christopher Sharp QC covered case management law and practice and Head of Chambers Richard Stead spoke on hot topics in brain injury litigation.

Derek Jenkins, Chief Executive St. John’s Chambers says: “We were honoured to be invited for the second consecutive year to host this national conference on behalf of a high profile charity.  The St. John’s Personal Injury Team has been acknowledged as the best in the country outside of London so the specialist team of barristers was able to add value and expertise as well as raising much needed funds for a very worthy cause.”

Peter McCabe, Chief Executive of Headway says:  “Like most charities, Headway would simply not be able to exist without generous donations from individuals and companies alike. As such, we are very grateful to St John’s Chambers for not only raising money for the charity, but also increasing awareness of brain injury and its effects.  Headway is a UK-wide organisation, with several groups and branches here in the south west of England that exists to provide support and services to people affected by brain injury. This generous donation will help us continue this vital work.”
