Kathmandu: Rallies take place in Nepal against rape

Protests have taken place in Kathmandu against rape, after a week of protests in neighbouring India.

The Nepal Women’s Association, Nepali Congress’ sister organisation, announced a protest programme calling for the end of rape and incidents of violence against women and guaranteeing the rule of law to the citizens.

The NWA wants to exert pressure on authorities to begin punishing the culprits of violence against women and providing justice to the victims. Rights activists say the government has not been paying due attention even when women’s sanctity was being robbed and incidents of violence against women have been increasing in a serial manner.
