How the Other Half Loves

Paul Taylor Mills presents How The Other Half Loves by Alan Ayckbourn. One set combining two different houses with two different sets of people each talking and carrying on as if the other didn't exist. Tickets £14/ £13, Box office: 01395 514413.

The Pirates of Penzance
Saturday, 7.30pm, Eggesford Airfield, Chulmleigh
Opera Anywhere, are presenting a performance of The Pirates of Penzance with a chorus drawn from the surrounding area. You are invited to bring a picnic from 5.30pm so you can enjoy the fabulous views from the airfield before going into the hangar for the performance at 7.30pm. Grand Baroque
Friday, 7.30pm, Exeter Cathedral
Enjoy two UK first performances of Cathedral-scale baroque choral works in one concert, directed by JanJoost van Elburg with the English Cornett and Sackbut Ensemble, Monteverdi String Band, natural trumpets of the Altenburg Ensemble and soloists from the UK’s best early music groups. Missa in labore requies (G Muffat) and Missa Sanctissimae Trinitatis (J. Fux) with full supporting programme. Promoted by Devon based Blackdowns Early Music Projects. Bicton Fest 2013
Saturday, Bicton Park
Bicton College provides a beautiful backdrop for this event which will showcase the best of Devon’s musical talent, alongside some of the hottest up and coming acts from across the UK including: Wille and the Bandits, Adam Isaac Band, Joey The Lips, These Reigning Days, Hunter & the Bear and Paper Aeroplanes. Reckless covers the 70s to present day at The Prospect Inn, Exeter Quay from 9pm; The Embezzlers (ska) are at the Bowling Green, Blackboy Road from 9.15pm; Diamondogz bring 70s glam rock to Whipton & Pinhoe Labour Club at  9.30pm (non-members £3),  Jack the Ladd are at the Half Moon at  Clyst St Mary from 8pm and Kiss This! bring the music of the 80s to the Heart of Oak at 9pm. Lonnie Liston Smith

One of contemporary music’s most versatile musicians. In a career that spans some 25 years, he has been headlined in a variety of recordings as a featured sideman for some of Jazz music’s most illustrious leaders before stepping out to reveal his own original concepts as a bandleader in the mid 70s. He is a keyboardist of the first rank and has influenced a generation of young players who have acknowledged his rhythmic (swing), harmonic acumen and composing skills. The Toy Train and Collectors Fair
Sunday, 10.30am, Westpoint Arena, Clyst St Mary

Family Activity: Pots

The Escot Butterfly Hunt

Devon Wildfowling Conservation Association Country Fair

EXHIBITIONS

Exeter Art Society Exhibition
East Devon Art Academy, Old Fore Street, Sidmouth EX10 8LS
Exeter Art Society are holding their annual Summer Art Exhibition from 31 August to 6 September, open daily 11am-4pm. As well as the Exhibition, there will be artwork for sale.

A wartime effort at Killerton
Killerton House, Broadclyst, Exeter
This exhibition features Broadclyst Primary School’s performance of 'Keep Calm and Carry On’ which was developed by the schoolchildren in conjunction with Killerton staff and volunteers and gave the audience a rare chance to see World War Two history brought to life in an innovative way.  The performances were recorded on video and are now presented alongside displays of photographs, costumes and objects from the play.
