New Exeter Leukaemia Fund Trustee appointed - Dr Richard Lee

Exeter Leukaemia Fund is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Richard Lee as a Trustee of the charity.

Richard who lives in Exeter has been a wonderful friend and supporter of ELF for over 25 years.

Dr Lee, until his retirement in 2010 was a Consultant Haematologist at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital for over 25 years. In the latter part of his career, Richard also ran clinics at North Devon District Hospital.

During his time at Exeter he was at the forefront of haematological developments at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, seeing the service grow, becoming a centre of excellence along with the building of the Haematology Centre which opened in 2003.

Richard said: “Over many years I have seen how the charity has changed and progressed to meet the challenges of the day and with an eye for the future. It was a privilege to be part of the development of the haematology department at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, which is now being driven by the next generation of consultants.

"I am honoured to have been asked to become a Trustee and aim to help shape the long term future of the charity, including enhancing the already successful ELF Community Support Programme.”

Dr Miles Joyner, Chairman of Trustees said: “I have known Richard for many years as a colleague and great supporter of ELF. His experience and pragmatic approach will be a great asset to ELF, as has been shown through his leadership chairing the charity’s medical committee. All the Trustees were unanimous in Richard becoming chosen as Trustee."
