Estuary Partnership launches small grants scheme
Groups or organisations keen to celebrate the natural beauty of the Teign Estuary can get access to a grant scheme to help promote the area’s diversity.
The Teign Estuary Partnership has launched a small grants scheme encouraging local groups to undertake community events which help conserve and enhance the Teign Estuary.
An award of up to £500 can be given towards individual projects that contribute to the social, economic and environmental wellbeing of communities around the Teign Estuary and its open coastline.
It can be anything from research projects to community events.
Cllr Sylvia Russell is the Chairman of the Partnership and is Teignbridge District Council’s Executive Spokesperson for Health and Wellbeing. She said: “The Small Grants Scheme is intended to be a simple process where the Partnership can assist local groups to get involved in practical projects, research tasks or community events which add value to the existing management of this natural area and celebrate the diversity of activities around the estuary.”
The Teign Estuary Partnership is led by Teignbridge District Council and involves the Environment Agency, Teignmouth Harbour Commission, Associated British Ports, Devon County Council and around 100 local and regional organisations.
Details of the scheme and how to apply can be found on the Partnership’s website: www.teignestuary.org
