Katie Hopkins in sick child controvesy
Katie Hopkins has courted even more controversy this week after commenting on the name of a sick child who was featured on the X Factor.
The programme featured an appeal for Kaychanel, a 10-year-old child from Norwich who suffers from a condition called Vacterl Sequence.
Severely ill Kaychanel has to take dialysis each week and has had an operation to help her to breathe.
Hopkins, who was live-tweeting throughout the programme, wrote: “Kaychanel has enough on her plate without me adding to it. Could have been worse. KayEsteeLauder. #xfactor”
Offended users quickly shot back against the tweet which was taken down shortly afterwards.
One user wrote: “Ouch! Y'know, @KTHopkins reminds me of my dear old grannie...in that she's delusional, racist & really should be dead by now.”
Hopkins later posted: “I believe I offer haters therapy. They offload their venom, I feel happy looking down at the snakes at play.”
The controversy is the latest in a line of unpopular opinion posted by the former Apprentice contestant which began with Hopkins’ speaking on names she believed to be “lower class” which insulted viewers of ITV’s This Morning.
Last month Hopkins apologised after a comment on Scottish life –expectancy shortly after the Clutha bar helicopter crash.
Her comments on Scotland also saw a petition to have Katie Hopkins banned from TV started and has since received over 89,000 signatures.
ITV have since said they have ‘no plans’ of featuring Hopkins on This Morning again.
Earlier this year a village in Kent burnt a 30ft effiagy of Hopkins for their bonfire night celebrations.
