Fire-struck charity moves home – with help from a friend!
Local removals company Van Man Exeter has helped charity Surf Life Saving GB move into new offices for free, after a fire at its Exeter headquarters on 2nd November.
The charity has moved next door from its previous office on Southernhay, after being told the whole building will be out of action until at least March 2013.
Van Man Exeter proprietor Mike Bradley said: “We helped the charity move offices earlier this year so were particularly sorry to hear about the fire. I immediately got in touch with Surf Life Saving GB to offer to relocate them for free and am delighted they have managed to find new premises.”
Van Man Exeter collected office furniture from a company in Bristol and from ATASS in Exeter and spent Wednesday 21st November delivering and assembling the furniture for the charity at its new office.
Surf Life Saving GB’s Chief Executive Esther Pearson said: “As a charity we keep very little in reserves, instead choosing to reinvest in supporting clubs and developing education programmes, so this has been a challenging time for us. We are so grateful for all the support we’ve received locally, and Van Man’s help alone is worth £720, we’re so thankful.”
Van Man Exeter (www.vanmanexeter.co.uk) was started in 2008 and is run by Michael Bradley. It provides a competitive home removals service with uniformed, trained staff and full insurance for your possessions. Modern vans are all kept smart, clean and are ideal for negotiating smaller Westcountry roads! Van Man is the only removals company which is part of Devon County Council’s “Buy with Confidence” scheme. This means the business has been visited by a member of the Trading Standards team who made sure the company's work meets their high standards.
