Peter Cox joins growing Devon law firm

Leading Devon law firm WBW Solicitors have appointed a new Partner to head up their private client team in Exeter.

Peter Cox, 47, joined the Southernhay office at the beginning of April from Torquay firm Boyce Hatton and is leading the growing team.

Born and bred in the West Country, Peter is well known in Exeter, having stood for parliament in the 2005 General Election.

He said: “I joined WBW because I wanted the opportunity to come back to Exeter and move to a bigger firm with a commitment to the type of work I specialise in. I was also keen to be part of a bigger practice and WBW is a firm with an aggressive growth strategy. They are doing exciting things and being part ofa progressive firm is very rewarding.”

Peter studied law at Staffordshire University and Guildford College of Law, before moving to Richmond upon Thames to qualify as a solicitor. Shortly afterwards he moved to Exeter due to a deep harboured love of Devon.

Peter’s appointment follows a number of developments within the private client department. Towards the end of 2013, the firm took custody of all private client matters, wills and deeds from Eastleys Solicitors who were placed into administration. Last year, the firm moved from their premises in Queen Street to Southernhay, the prestigious business quarter of Exeter.

Married with step children, Peter lives in Exeter and is keen golfer, playing regularly at the Teign Valley Golf Club. “I have a real affection for Exeter”, he said. “It’s a great city, with a relaxed atmosphere and a great buzz about the place. I must love it as I’ve spent nearly half my life here now.”
