The annual, much anticipated, Dawlish Air Show will take place for the tenth time this August.
The award winning air show attracts over 80,000 people each year who are keen to bask in the glory of the coastline and enjoy the spectacular displays.
The family fun day which will consist of ground attractions and a Pilot’s party will take place on Friday 22nd August, and the air show and live music will be on the following day; Saturday 23rd August.
Friday will involve a number of different attractions on the ground. There will be a static display comprising of a Westland Whirlwind helicopter. There will also be a Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, and chance to sit in a Hawker Hunter cockpit and Falconry UK will bring a number of their birds along to the show. Whilst the children are enjoying the colossal bouncy castle, the parents can take part in a Zumba class.
Saturday will bring the air show. The Red Arrows are the world’s finest, and probably best known, aerobatic display team. This year they are celebrating their 50th display season. There will also be a Short Tucano, and a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, both courtesy of the Royal Air Force. A Westland Sea King will also be on show from the Royal Navy. These are just a few of the aircraft that will be on display, and there are many more.
Live music will be performed on Saturday. There are three bands performing at this year’s air show, they are: Blame Andy, Seven Cities and One Foot In The Groove. They will be performing covers of bands such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Imagine Dragons and the Foo Fighters.
It is free to attend the air show but the organisers of this great event rely on donations to keep the air show running year after year.
