Golf captains raise £8250 for Diabetes UK

The 2012 golf captains at Exeter Golf and Country Club presented a cheque for £8250 to Diabetes UK at the club’s annual ‘Turkey Trot’ golf competition.

Club members, Mike Priest and Shelia Scott co-ordinated fund-raising for their chosen charity during their year as golf captains through a series of events and prize draws including the annual Men’s and Ladies’ Pro Am tournaments and Captain’s Golf Days.

Mike and Shelia chose Diabetes UK to help raise diabetes awareness amongst the club membership whilst raising money for a charity which helps an increasing proportion of the population.

The charity is the largest organisation in the UK working for people with diabetes, funding research, campaigning and helping people live with the condition, which affects over 224,000 adults and 1,665 children in the South West alone.

Francis Collier from Diabetes UK attended the golf event to receive the cheque on behalf of the charity, which was presented by Mike and Shelia.
