South West shoppers have a chance to bag a designer bargain as part of a charity treasure hunt which launched this week.

Designer creations from some of the biggest names in the fashion world will arrive at Cancer Research UK shops as part of the Tatler Treasure Hunt.

For two weeks, shoes, scarves, clothes, handbags and other stunning creations will be hidden in stores, alongside items regularly donated by the local community.

The campaign sees Tatler magazine join forces with the fashion elite to donate pieces which will be sold in the charity’s shops, for a fraction of their usual price.

Nearly 40 influential designers have donated exclusive items to help raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK.

The designer goodies will be dropped off at random, so shoppers are being encouraged to keep popping into their local store for the chance to find the items with a golden ticket and snap up a bargain.

Alison Birkett, Cancer Research UK spokesperson for the South West said: “Our charity shops are always full of amazing hidden gems and great deals but thanks to the Tatler Treasure Hunt this has never been more true.

“We hope the treasure hunt inspires shoppers old and new to visit their local Cancer Research UK shop, rummage through the rails and see what treats can be found.

“The money raised by these generous gifts will help fund life-saving research to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.”

There will be 67 designer items to discover from 40 contributing designers including: Alexander McQueen, Anya Hindmarch, Belstaff, Bionda Castana, Bvlgari, Chanel, Charlotte Olympia, Coach, D&G, Daks, Diane Von Furstenburg, Dior, DKNY, Fendi, Hugo Boss, Kenzo, Louboutin, Manolo Blahnik, Max Mara, Michael Van Der Ham, Mulberry, Ports 1961, Prada, Pringle, Ralph Lauren, Roland Mouret, Rupert Sanderson, Temperley, Tod’s and Tommy Hilfiger.

Kate Reardon, Editor of Tatler and long term supporter of the charity said: “With nearly 600 Cancer Research UK shops across the UK not only will shoppers be able to grab a fantastic bargain but, thanks to the support of some of the world’s top designers, they are in with the chance of uncovering a real treat!”

Cancer Research UK receives no Government funding for its groundbreaking research. So money raised through its shops is crucial to the work of doctors, nurses and scientists who are fighting cancer on all fronts.

The charity relies on the generosity of its supporters to keep its shops stocked and is always in need of good quality donations of clothes, shoes, bags, homeware, books, CDs and DVDs.

Get involved in the hunt and receive special clues by following CRUK on twitter and facebook and searching for #tatlertreasurehunt.
