Exeter firms get on their bikes for charity

During National Adoption Week, Exeter firm WSP have challenged Parsons Brinckerhoff to the ultimate static cycle race to raise awareness and much needed funds to support families who have adopted in Exeter.

Members of both companies will take part in static bike race in the centre of Princesshay shopping centre on Wednesday 5 November.

The victorious office will be the one whose members cover the most miles during the day.

All money raised on the day will be donated to Families for Children Adoption Agency to be able to continue providing the vital support needed for families who have adopted in Exeter and across the South West. The work they do ranges from simple advice and telephone support to more complex therapeutic support, respite and counselling.

In the midsts of this friendly office rivalry, local celebrity chef and patron of the charity Michael Caines OBE will also be stepping onto the platform to go the distance for the charity.

Cyclists will be getting on their bikes on Wednesday 5 November in Princesshay Square from 10am and through until 4pm.

Thanks goes to local fitness centre, Fitness First who have kindly offered the static bikes which will be used for the event.

Jeremy Penfold, WSP senior technical director said: “We can’t wait to get on our bike and race our friends at Parsons Brinckerhoff! This is a fantastic idea to raise awareness for an extremely worthwhile charity. Families for Children need £300,000 every year to support local children so please do come down to cheer us on and, more importantly, donate.  WSP is a long-time supporter for Families for Children so we hope to do them proud in Princesshay.”
