Mums and babies enjoy RD&E SNUG party
SNUG is a charitable organisation that supports Devon based Neonatal families and works closely with staff from the RD&E’s Neonatal Unit.
The party was held in the Centre for Women’s Health, where staff from the Neonatal unit were able to catch up with babies and their parents who have now left the unit to see how they are getting on.
The babies enjoyed some Christmas games and the opportunity to meet Santa, whilst their mums chatted over coffee and cake. They also had a chance to enter the Christmas hamper raffle, the contents of which had been kindly donated by local businesses.
Leanna Wakely, Manager of SNUG and a RD&E Hospital Volunteer, organised the party. She said: “For a lot of these babies it’s their first Christmas and we want to celebrate how far they’ve come because they are all little miracles.”
“Their parents have done so well to come through such a traumatic experience and now it’s about making happy memories for them. It’s been lovely for them to come back to the RD&E and show off their babies to the medical professionals who were there at the beginning of their journey and show them how far they’ve come. “
