Promotion for Exeter-based lawyer
City, national and international law firm Trowers & Hamlins have announced that Rachel Carter, a lawyer based in the firm's Exeter office, has been promoted to partner.
Rachel has over 20 years of experience in the property sector and works in the firm's Housing and Regeneration department. She acts for private developers, social landlords and local authorities, giving her a full understanding of the complexities and commercial arrangements needed to tackle development issues. In addition to development projects and joint ventures, Rachel has experience advising on purchases and disposals of development land for both green field and brown field sites.
Rachel is recognised as a leading practitioner in the field of social housing in the Chambers & Partners Guide to the Legal Profession 2015, with one client praising her ability to "work out bespoke solutions and creative solutions" to fit with their needs.
Jennie Gubbins, Trowers & Hamlins' senior partner, commented: "I am delighted to welcome Rachel to the partnership. We have a particularly strong housing practice in the South West, which has been recognised year-on-year as the standalone, top-tier team in the Chambers and Legal 500 legal directories. Rachel has contributed considerably to the successes of the practice and has demonstrated her legal knowledge and commercial acumen time and time again.
"Rachel's promotion also supports our strategy to develop strong national practice areas across our UK offices. Being able to draw on the expertise of lawyers across this network helps ensure we are well-equipped to meet the needs of our clients."
Trowers & Hamlins' social housing team has established itself as the market leader in the sector in the South West. With more than 20 lawyers working in Exeter, the team acts for most of the housing associations in the region and also for developers and local authorities, who seek to draw on the firm's experience in the housing sector. In addition to housing, Trowers & Hamlins' Exeter office offers specialist legal services in real estate, property litigation, and construction.
