Business Network (SW) autumn lunch
Over 60 members of the local business community attended the autumn networking lunch of Business Network (SW) held at Exeter Racecourse.
A pre-lunch seminar was given by WESC Foundation, The Specialist Centre for Visual Impairment, in conjunction with Glen King PR/Marketing.
The presentation included background on the 176 year old Exeter-based charity and the benefits of businesses giving back to the community by taking on a ‘Charity of the Year’, including how this can raise their brand and profile via PR.
A raffle raised £200 on the day, which enabled the charity to reach its target of £25,000 for its ‘Horse Simulator Appeal’ launched by the WESC therapy team at the beginning of this year.
Horse-riding has regularly been used as one of the therapies at WESC, as a valuable form of education and exercise, beneficial both to physical and mental wellbeing. The horse simulator was originally designed for the rehabilitation of injured jockeys and the potential it gives for muscle strengthening, has meant it is a valuable therapeutic tool for disabled riders.
