Golfing day raises £2,742 for Hospiscare

A golf day, organised by the Mears Ltd - Exeter Branch part of Mears Group PLC, has raised £2,742 for us. Eighteen teams took part in the Mears Ltd South West Regional Golf Day which was held at Woodbury Park.

The day was organised by Philip Taverner, Mears Ltd general manager for Devon and Cornwall. The £5,000 cash prize for a hole in one on the 18th offered by Mears Ltd wasn’t won, although two golfers did get very close! The winning team was the team entered by Philip Bruford of PJ Bruford Decorating Ltd and the day ended with a separate dinner and dance.

Richard Cousins, Hospiscare corporate relationships manager, said: “This is the fourth consecutive year that the Mears Ltd Exeter has raised money for Hospiscare from their regional golf day and we are very grateful for their continued support. Philip and Sue at the Mears Exeter branch have once again organised a fantastic day, and the £2,742 raised will be spent directly on caring for our patients in Exeter, East and Mid Devon.”

Hospiscare is well-established local charity which provides dedicated and professional support to local people diagnosed with a terminal illness. We meet the needs of our patients wherever they may be - at home, in a hospital, in a care home, our 12 bed Exeter hospice or our three day hospices.
