Tony Kushner’s multiple award winning play is set in 1980s New York and follows the intertwining lives of Louis and his boyfriend Prior, as well as Joe and his agoraphobic wife, Harper. When Prior is diagnosed with AIDS, Louis struggles to come to terms with his mortality and meets Joe, who happens to be in the wrong place at the right time. As they are forced to confront the hardships of the emerging HIV/AIDS epidemic, as well as mental health issues, the play confronts the difficult relationship between love and guilt. Claude Cahun: Beneath this Mask
Exeter Phoenix
French photographer Claude Cahun (1894–1954) achieved posthumous fame for her elusive self-portraits in which she assumed multiple personae. This Hayward Touring exhibition is presented in collaboration with Jersey Heritage and was first exhibited at the Women of the World Festival 2015, Southbank Centre. It consists of 42 contemporary giclee prints made from scans of the original, the majority of the negatives having been lost. Gallery open from 10am - 5.30pm daily (excluding Sundays), free.
