New sponsorship deal for sports gala
Kitsons Solicitors have committed to a new deal that sees the Devon law firm become headline sponsor for Teignbridge District Council’s Sports Personality Awards for the third year running.
Teignbridge Sports Personality of the Year has become one of the largest events of its kind. It recognises and rewards a wide range of athletes, teams, volunteers, coaches and unsung heroes for their hard work and dedication to sport, health and physical activity in many local communities across the district.
This year's Sports Personality Awards will be held on Friday 2 December at the Langstone Cliff Hotel, Dawlish Warren.
A Teignbridge, Torbay, Exeter and Plymouth law firm, Kitsons has been the primary sponsor since 2014 for the annual event which celebrates the best in community sport, physical activity and health.
Teignbridge is proud of their long-term commitment in providing opportunities for healthy active lifestyles, outlined in the Council’s Ten Year Strategy. With such a varied offering of leisure facilities, open spaces and events accessible to communities, the Council is keen to provide an array of inclusive leisure and sports facilities that benefit local people.
Cllr George Gribble, Teignbridge District Council’s executive spokesman for recreation and leisure said:
"It’s fantastic news that Kitsons will continue to be the main sponsor for our prestigious awards night. We're really grateful for their support and are sure it will contribute positively to the future of this popular annual event that’s a highlight on the sporting and community calendar. People still have time to get their nominations in. If you know someone who has made an outstanding contribution to sport, physical activity or health in Teignbridge we're really keen to hear from you.
"As we have seen in previous years, there are lots of people out there who work tirelessly, often giving their own time for nothing, and we would love to see them recognised for their efforts."
James Cross, Managing Partner at Kitsons said:
“We’re delighted to continue our association with the Sports Personality Awards which celebrate local sporting success, volunteers and participants. Community is so important and this is a fantastic local event to be part of, bringing Teignbridge and the wider community together with all the benefit that sport can bring to us all.”
There is now a great opportunity for other local businesses to get involved by sponsoring one of the 13 categories – Services to Sport (Community), Services to Sport (Education), Coach/Manager of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Disabled Sportsperson of the Year, Club of the Year, Junior Team of the Year, Senior Team of the Year, Junior Sportswoman of the Year, Junior Sportsman of the Year, Senior Sportswoman of the Year, Senior Sportsman of the Year, Young Persons Services to Physical Education and Sport.
