Big Bang South West 2013 promises to be a real record breaker
Businesses are invited to get involved in The Big Bang South West 2013; the 'champions league' of all Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) events, which will be held at the University of Exeter Streatham campus later this year (27th June 2013).
School and college students are now busy working on their Big Bang South West competition entries. Meanwhile organisers, the Education Business Partnership – South West (EBP-SW), are looking for businesses that work in STEM subjects to join the impressive list of companies already signed-up to showcase their work to an audience of young people and / or join the judges panel to assess the student projects.
The Big Bang South West will centre around a huge interactive exhibition arena, bringing together over 90 local and national organisations, 150 student competitors and more than 100 judges in a celebration of innovation, experimentation, exploration in and the application of science, technology, engineering and maths.
On the day there will even be a World Record Attempt involving a large number of those attending taking part; exact details will be revealed nearer the time.
South West students from more than 80 schools and colleges submitted competition entries last year, and 10 projects were nominated to compete nationally at The Big Bang Fair 2013, which takes place in London in next month.
Alex Ledbrooke, STEM Manager of Education Business Partnership – South West said:
“The Big Bang South West 2013 is going to be phenomenal; bigger, better and with more bang! This last year we have seen a lot of focus placed on encouraging young people to study science, technology, engineering and maths. Our event will see young people discovering for themselves just how many exciting and rewarding opportunities there are that involve those subjects, whilst showing employers just how inventive they can be.”
