Charity welcomes Exeter Solicitor as its Chair of Trustees
Following the retirement of The Venerable Trevor Lloyd in December, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is delighted to announce a new Chairman for its Board of Trustees.
David Turner, partner at Kitsons Solicitors in Exeter, has now been appointed in the role and took up the post on 2nd January 2017.
David’s relationship with CHSW began ten years ago when he was quiz master for a number of South West business community quizzes aimed at raising funds and awareness of the charity. He was also a former president of the Devon and Somerset Law Society and selected CHSW as his presidential charity.
In 2014, David joined CHSW’s Board of Trustees and is his new role he will oversee all Trustee activity. Commenting on his appointment, David said: ‘As a long term supporter of Children’s Hospice South West, to now become the Chairman of the Board of Trustees is an absolute privilege. Although Trevor’s shoes will be difficult to fill as he was involved with CHSW from its inception, I am really looking forward to developing the role and working even more closely with this much-loved charity.’
Eddie Farwell, Chief Executive and co-founder of CHSW said: ‘I am delighted that David has accepted this new role. David has been involved with CHSW for many years and I know that he is completely committed to the work that we do and will do his utmost to support us in our mission to make the most of short and precious lives.’
David commenced the role in January 2017 and will work closely the charity and its followers. Children’s Hospice South West has three hospices in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset offering respite and care services to life-limited children and their families across the region.
It costs £9.8million each year to provide this support, which is met almost entirely from voluntary donations.
