Devon mumpreneur launches Bertha & Co
Bertha & Co, the new online shopping site championing some of the best British children’s brands launched at the end of January.
Created by Liz Knight a mumpreneur from Woodbury in Devon, who loved to find unique and bespoke items for her children and would often receive comments from friends and family as to where she had sourced such lovely pieces.
In her search Liz felt there just wasn't somewhere that offered what they wanted as the consumer; a select group of some of the best British children's brands, all in one place and so, Bertha & Co was born. A name inspired by a charming mix of the names of her children and those that gave her the inspiration for this unique shopping experience.
From baby essentials such as Babygro’s and teething jewellery to children’s clothing, toys and partyware, if you are looking for something British and unique, Bertha & Co is the place to go.
This online shopping experience promises to stay selective, focusing on the more luxury end of the market with an emphasis on organic and ethical products that will be sure to delight you. Bertha & Co is the only online marketplace listing only British brands and supporting homegrown design.
Liz is proud to say “We are selective when it comes to the companies that we work with so that the customer only gets the best of the small businesses that are out there.”
Liz, who loved to travel before starting her own family, has previously volunteered in an orphanage in India. It was here and whilst she was traveling she saw first-hand the difficulties facing children and mothers around the world. Bertha & Co will donate 5% of profits to support mothers and children worldwide. The current charities who will receive an equal share of profits are War Child UK & Maternity Worldwide.
Bertha & Co aims to become one of the leading children’s websites offering something new and unique to the marketplace and the audience that visits. Selecting small businesses who produce products that have a fantastic style and quality and, more often than not, ethical qualities as well. Liz created the website from scratch and sourcing the suppliers has been a pleasant challenge. Liz says of the fantastic mix of styles joining Bertha, “I am so happy to have been able to go on this journey of sourcing such a mix of beautiful homegrown designers and makers and the amazing people behind these brands and am looking forward to being able to share Bertha with everyone.”
