Darts Farm which has just joined Exeter Pound features in the 2017 2nd Edition of the Exeter Pound Guide published today.

Five thousand copies will be available this week from the 166 businesses in the scheme.

Martyn Goss, Chair of Exeter Pound Board said: "All our local independent businesses are enterprising, colourful, creative and above all unique! We are particularly welcome Darts Farm, a very well known and successful independent local business with a nationwide reputation."

Michael Dart from Darts Farm added: "We are proud to be  joining forces with Exeter Pound. Darts Farm has become a nationally regarded award winning business which has grown organically over many years, supporting hundreds of local food and drink and craft producers."

Councillor Rosie Denham, Portfolio Holder Economy for Exeter City Council said: "I'm delighted Exeter Pound is now established in the city, adding a focus to thelocal independent business economy. I wish it every success in 2017 as it expands and the continued support of Exeter City Council."

Exeter Pound is a complementary currency scheme launched in Exeter in September 2015 with 100 businesses following the success of existing schemes in Bristol and Totnes.

Paper £E1, £E5, £E10 and £E20, designed by local artists, are available in exchange points across the city including Exeter City Council's Tourist Information Centre in DIx's Field.

They can be spent only in the 166 local independent businesses in the scheme, which will help them survive and prosper.

For each pound spent, they employ more people, and re-spend more locally than national or international businesses.

Using the Exeter Pound encourages a more connected and thriving local economy.

Goods travel shorter distances, which is also good for the earth.

The notes bear designs contributed by local Exeter people, showing those things we value, identify with and that we are proud of, the special things that belong to us all.

There are over £E40,000 in notes already in circulation. There are plans for a digital currency to operate alongside the paper notes once national negotiations between the Guild of Independent Currency and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) are complete.
