Sidmouth Play Festival opens
Paul Taylor Mills is delighted to announce The Summer Paly Festival 2017, bringing weekly rep to The Manor Pavilion Theatre with one company presenting a season of twelve classic revivals from Thursday 22 June to Friday 22 September 2017.
Paul said: "It's hard to find the right way to explain how privileged I feel to be presenting our fifth season of plays at The Manor Pavilion Theatre. I am utterly overwhelmed with the reception we have received both locally and across the country and am proud that we are the last standing weekly play season in the entire country. The season continues to be a major tourist attraction with audiences travelling from across the UK. I could have never have dreamed five years ago that this would have been possible.
"We have doubled the amount of season ticket holders, and broadened the age range of audiences by introducing an under 16 price point. I must extend my sincere thanks to our audience who have been incredibly committed to our work and invested in season tickets to watch all twelve plays across the summer.
"We have also managed to keep our ticket price competitive and affordable ensuring that we make our work accessible to all. Thank you once again to East Devon District Council, the entire team at The Manor Pavilion Theatre and all of our actors and creatives teams, here's to another five years."
The season has opened this week with Ray Cooney’s farce “Caught In The Net” and theatre manager Graham Whitlock is delighted with the response: “It’s been wonderful to hear the audience having such a good time with our first play. Caught In The Net is so much fun and I’ve really enjoyed hearing the response from the audience every night. They’ve been literally shrieking with laughter.”
Murder comes to The Manor Pavilion next week with the opening of Phillip King and John Boland’s Murder In Company. This classic whodunit will have the audience guessing right up to the final curtain. An evening of suspense that is not to be missed.
