Man in critical condition after collision at Westpoint last night

Police are appealing for information following a serious collision in Exeter which left a man in a critical condition.

The 49-year-old man suffered serious head injuries after falling from a moving vehicle, possibly a taxi, at Westpoint last night (28 February).

The incident happened around 10.25pm when a man got into what is thought to be a taxi, described as a black medium-sized people carrier with a sliding side door, possibly a Mercedes Vito.

The driver refused to take him and the vehicle made off at speed with the victim still inside and the side door open.

The man fell out of the vehicle and sustained serious head injuries. He remains in critical condition at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

The man, who is from Somerset, was among a group of friends who had been at a darts event at Westpoint.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident and for information to help identify the vehicle and driver involved.

The driver is described as a white man, aged 50 to 60, and of small to medium build. He was wearing a black suit-type jacket.
