Silent art auction and tea party
A silent art auction and tea party will be held at Chagford Jubilee Hall on Saturday 18th November.
This event will be showing the creative talent of local artists (many of whom are internationally celebrated) to raise funds for Women in Gaza and breast cancer awareness.
An inspirational array of art will be on offer in many mediums and you might just get the opportunity to purchase an exceptional piece of affordable fine art, directly from the artist while supporting community outreach programmes, and you get tea and cakes. What better way to spend a Saturday afternoon?
Donating artists include: Susan Derges, one of the great Dartmoor artists specialising in cameraless photographic processes, working with natural landscapes and Terri Windling, award winning American author and artist, known for her exquisite illustrations; Susan Spencer, Deborah Baker, Juliet Mills, Mary Ann Mackenzie plus many more. Mediums include oils, inks, prints, photography, designer jewellery and ceremics, you won’t know what you’ll find until you get there.
During a silent auction the bids are written on a sheet of paper. At the predetermined end of the auction, the highest listed bidder wins the item.
Funds will go to the Amos Trust, a small, creative human rights organisation, committed to challenging injustice, building hope and creating positive change. Their three areas of work currently focus on promoting the rights of Street Children in South Africa, Burundi, India and Tanzania, creating a just peace for Palestine and building sustainable rural communities in Nicaragua and India. They work with vibrant grass-roots partners around the world who are developing local solutions to global issues – collaboration is therefore at the heart of everything they do.
The event runs from 2pm-5pm and admission is free (cash only, no credit card facilities).
