Double donations for Devon Hotels
Devon Hotels raised over £1,000 for the RNLI and Hospitality Action following a charity auction at their Annual Association Dinner, with each charity receiving £500 to put towards the valuable work they do.
James Sharp, Chair of Devon Hotels said: “We are grateful to our members for raising such a fantastic sum of money for these groups and for the prizes that they donated. Devon Hotels represents more than 50 hotels and restaurants in the county and the work that both the RNLI and Hospitality Action do is imperative to our industry, as well as Devon’s tourism.”
The money raised for Hospitality Action will be put towards Guy Moores’ charity cycle ride from London to Paris on the 21st – 24th June, where he is hoping to raise more than £1,400 for the charity.
Guy Moores said: “I’m really excited about the cycle ride. It will be a great challenge, covering more than 250 miles in total! My wife Fiona works within hospitality in Exeter and it is great to be able to raise money for a charity that directly influences the work that she does.”
Hospitality Action was established in 1837 and offers vital assistance to all who work or have worked within the hospitality industry in the UK. They support people who have suffered life altering illness or who might be experiencing poverty, bereavement and domestic violence.
Exmouth RNLI said: “Much of the RNLI’s work is focused on Devon and the South West region, helping to keep the coastline safe especially during the busy summer period. We are grateful to Devon Hotels and its members for this fantastic donation, which will go towards helping to maintain the vital work we do on Devon’s beaches and waters.”
