Celebrate a summer of sport at IKEA with a whole host of in-store activities and offers, guaranteed to fuel the ultimate day out for the whole family.

Inspired by big sporting events taking place this summer, IKEA will host its first-ever “Sommar of Sport” challenge, with free events and activities for children in stores nationwide*, between Friday 26th July and Sunday 11th August 2024.

To get involved, little ones must fill out a challenge card by completing different sports-based activities in-store. With every completed activity, a letter will be unveiled on the card, which will spell out a final secret word. Once the full mystery word has been revealed, kids can enter the prize draw to be in with the chance to win big!

Some of the activities you may find in your local Sommar of Sport challenge include:

  • Penalty shootout: Test your skills as both the shooter and the goalie at IKEA. Kids can also challenge their friends or family and see who can score the most goals. Get ready to kick off the fun!
  • Relay races: Kids can join the IKEA obstacle challenge, a fun and exciting course filled with twists and turns.
  • Shooting hoops: Basketball-obsessed kids can get their game face on and hit the court! Whether a seasoned player or just starting, show off your shooting skills.
  • Hopscotch challenge: An IKEA twist on a classic game – participants must complete the challenge at each number to be allowed to move on to the next.
  • Flatpack races: Competitive kids can test out their assembly skills as they race against the clock to put together iconic IKEA products. From chairs to crates, experience the satisfaction of completing a DIY project, without the instructions!
  • Make your own medal: Join IKEA for a fun and creative experience where children can design and craft their very own personalised sports medals.
  • Flying flags: Kids can create their own flags, inspired by team spirit and artistic flare.
  • Selfie station: Show off your sporting spirit by striking a pose and snapping a selfie.

What’s more, IKEA Family members can also make the most of the Swe-Dish Fridays offer3, with 50% off some of IKEA’s most iconic dishes. Little ones can eat for less than 50p, with Children’s Pasta and Tomato Sauce available for just 45p. Other meals included in the Swe-Dish Fridays offer are IKEA’s famous Meatballs meal for just £2.45, and Fish & Chips for £3.45.

Activities will vary from store to store, so make sure to visit your local IKEA’s events page for more information on the activities taking place and offers available in-store.

Customers can sign up to become an IKEA Family member for free and receive exclusive rewards and discounts on selected IKEA products, workshops, ideas, plus a free hot drink in selected stores.
