Get involved in Women’s Rugby World Cup now
People are being offered an exciting opportunity to get involved with the Women’s Rugby World Cup in Exeter next year as a volunteer.
Organisers of the tournament have opened up Expressions of Interest for the Volunteer Programme.
The programme will help organisers assemble eight volunteer teams to support the tournament in each of the host locations, one of which is Sandy Park, Exeter.
The Women’s Rugby World Cup takes place between 22 August and 27 September in 2025. Sandy Park will play host to multiple matches in the pool phase as well as an historic quarter-final. Tickets go on sale shortly.
Volunteers will be integral to welcoming fans and teams to the host locations and showcasing each of the unique cities and towns. There will be a variety of volunteer roles available across the tournament, covering customer service, sport, fan experience, broadcast & media, and event operations.
Who can apply to be a volunteer?
With an open and inclusive volunteering programme, organisers are looking forward to welcoming individuals from all backgrounds. Whether people are new to volunteering or volunteer regularly, and whether they are avid rugby fans or are new to the sport, this will be a unique and exciting experience for everyone.
In order to be part of the volunteer programme, applicants need to be:
- Aged 18+ by 1 April 2025
- Eligible to volunteer in the UK
- Available for all match-days at preferred location (please refer to the FAQs on the website for more detail on dates)
The full programme and application form will launch in October this year, but those who are keen to be a volunteer can complete the Expression of Interest form to tell organisers a little more about themselves and be the first to hear any updates on the programme, including the application launch.
Cllr Duncan Wood, Lead Councillor for Leisure Services & Healthy Living, said: “This is an incredible opportunity for anyone to take part in an unforgettable experience. We’ve seen in the past – at the London 2012 Olympics, and even in Exeter at the Rugby World Cup in 2015 – the impact the volunteers have in making the games run smoothly and not only that but adding colour and vibrancy to the occasion. I would encourage anyone who is interested to go to the website and fill in an expression an interest and start that journey now.”
