Everys Solicitors cycled between all of its nine Devon and Somerset branches in two days to raise £5,000 for the charity School in a Bag.

The team began its journey at the Bridgwater office in Somerset, finishing in Seaton, Devon, on the first day before heading off to the final finish line in Exeter the following day covering a distance of 95 miles.

On day two, the team climbed Peak Hill in Sidmouth used by the British National Hill Climb Championship in 2007. Everys’ commercial director Bruce Brooker was part of the team and said: “Peak Hill was certainly a challenge but we all made it - slowly but surely. The last three legs Budleigh Salterton, Exmouth and Exeter were a piece of cake in comparison!”

The rest of the Everys team comprised of partners Stephen Forsey and Stephen Clegg, legal executive Sally Alexander, credit controller Lauren Burroughs and marketing assistant Jessica Scullion.

Everys committed to raising £5,000 for School in a Bag, which helps poor, orphaned, vulnerable and disaster-affected children throughout the world. It is part of the Piers Simon Appeal that makes financial contributions to the victims of disasters. Piers Simon was killed in the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami and the charity was set up by his family.

Each School in a Bag is filled with stationery, learning resources and eating utensils that will enable a child to write, draw, colour, calculate, express themselves and learn.

Piers’ brother Luke Simon, the charity liaison officer for School in a Bag, said: “It was a pleasure to work with Everys on this fundraising event. It was a real physical challenge and Peak Hill was a tough ask, but everyone got their heads down and made it to the top. The money they raise will be put to really good use and I sincerely thank Everys for their effort and support.”
