Linguist and philosopher, Noam Chomsky, will speak to Professor Robert Lamb from the University of Exeter, in a free online event.

Often called the ‘founder of modern linguistics’, Chomsky will answer audience questions, focusing on the topic of free speech, live from Tucson in the United States on 11 September.

He will be in conversation with Robert Lamb , Professor of Political Philosophy at the University of Exeter and Director of the Institute for Cultural Enquiry.

Co-op set to serve-up new Exeter store

Co-op is set to serve-up a new food store in Exeter this week following a more than £625,000 investment creating 13 local jobs.

The new convenience store, located in Belgrave Road at The Depot, will run on 100% renewable electricity and open between 7am-Midnight daily.

Thanks to the volunteering of Soccersixes staff and referees, through lockdown the 6aside league managed to raise and donate £2,025 to the NHS.

The 6-a-side league provider who usually operate 6-a-side leagues outdoors on 3G pitches decided during lockdown to help the NHS and to therefore operate an e-soccer online FIFA gaming tournament and raised the £2,025 with all profit going to the NHS.

Small businesses and the tourism sector across Devon, Plymouth, Somerset and Torbay are among those who can benefit from the Growth Support Kickstart Grant Scheme offering grants of up to £3,000.

Application forms for the grant are available on the Growth Support Kickstart Grant website from noon on Tuesday 1 September.

It follows the recent government announcement of a £10 million national investment to kickstart the tourism economy and a £20 million national investment to support small business to get going again and recover from the impacts of COVID-19.

All the changes planned by Stagecoach to bus routes across Devon this September

From 6th September Stagecoach has got various timetables changes across their south west network. Yasmin Clapp is backing The Brain Tumour Charity’s Great Minds T-shirt campaign to raise vital funds to help find a cure for brain tumours – the biggest cancer killer of children and under-40s in the UK.
