Local partners join forces to support former Flybe staff

In the wake of Flybe going into administration, local authorities and partners have joined forces to support Flybe staff affected by the announcement.

Devon County Council, Exeter City Council, East Devon District Council, Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership (HotSW LEP), Exeter College and Exeter Airport are leading an urgent response group.

Flybe is estimated to be worth around £98.5 million to the local economy and provided around 1,000 jobs directly in the Exeter and East Devon area with a further 620 jobs supported by the business.

Flybe collapse – Exeter City Council sets up job fair in city

A jobs fair is being held in Exeter to support those affected by the collapse of city-based airline Flybe.

The event is being held on Tuesday (10 March) at Exeter Corn Exchange and has been organised by Exeter City Council following Flybe going into administration.

Everyone is welcome to attend – not just former employees of Flybe - and can turn up on the day. The Council is also looking for more employers to come along to the event.

A number of big companies and recruitment agencies have already booked a place at the jobs fair, including BT, the NHS and Screwfix....

Ali Hepher has challenged his Exeter Chiefs side to finish this latest four-game block in the Gallagher Premiership on a high note with victory over visiting Bath at Sandy Park tomorrow (2:30pm).

Having accrued decent victories over Gloucester and Northampton Saints, the table-topping Chiefs were undone at the death last weekend as Harlequins secured a 34-30 victory, courtesy of a penalty try deep into added on time.

The foodie heaven celebration that is the Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink returns this May 8th - 10th and after a newly forged partnership with the Exeter Chiefs, discounted early bird tickets are on sale now.

This year promises to be the greenest festival yet, with the banning of single-use plastic, an increase in plant-based exhibitors and a competition to find the greenest exhibitor on-site being run by Coastal Recycling.

An Exeter church has experienced a soar in the number of people attending its services via its livestream.

Rediscover Church based in Northernhay Street, Exeter broadcasts its 11.30am service live online every Sunday to a local and international audience.
