Stagecoach South West has paid tribute to the country’s bus and coach workers, as it joins the industry today to mark Bus and Coach Worker Support Day in recognising the thousands of people involved in keeping key bus services running during the Covd-19 pandemic.

Cancer specialists raising money for FORCE

Team Oncology raises more than £7,000 for FORCE

A team of cancer specialists from the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital has raised more than £7,000 for charity by doing laps of the Wonford site.

Eighty-six people took part in the challenge to run or walk two-kilometre circuits around the perimeter of the RD&E campus last week, before and after work and during their breaks.

They all joined in to raise money for FORCE Cancer Charity, which is still supporting local people affected by cancer during the Coronavirus pandemic lockdown.

The Donkey Sanctuary based in Sidmouth is the first equine charity in the world to be accepted into the United Nations’ Mountain Partnership. The Devon based charity will now work with international governments, NGOs and private sectors for the common good of improving the lives of mountain people and protecting mountain environments globally.

Tech champions, heroes and innovators will be recognised at the annual Tech South West Awards which launched on Friday May 1.

Covid-19 telephone support line for people on probation

The organisation that supervises low and medium risk offenders in Dorset, Devon and Cornwall launched this week a new telephone helpline for people on probation worried about the impact of coronavirus (Covid-19) on areas of their life such as finances, housing and mental health.

KSS CRC set up the advice line for the 4,200 people it supervises in the region to signpost them to services quickly as their circumstances change as a result of the pandemic. With growing concern for the safety of some children during the coronavirus crisis the NSPCC wants more people to know how to get advice and support and where to raise concerns about a child’s wellbeing.
