Devon, Somerset and Torbay Trading Standards Service has been shortlisted for the 2020 LGC Awards in the ‘Best Service Delivery Model’ category. The award recognises local authorities which have pioneered innovative ways of service delivery. Now trading standards officers will head to London on 20 January to convince the panel why they should be considered the best - with the hope of being presented with the overall award in March. Dementia in Devon set to soar by 39% in the next decade

The number of people with dementia in Devon is set to soar by 39%, warns a report published today, commissioned by Alzheimer’s Society from the London School of Economics and Political Science [1].

The report predicts that as our population ages, a higher proportion of people with dementia will have higher care needs for longer, driving up the average amount spent on care.

Exeter College hosted the road safety team Learn2Live to talk with students on the dangers of the road and how the impact of a wrong decision can last a lifetime.

The sessions run by the Learn2Live organisation provided genuine accounts of those who have been affected by road safety collisions, including police officers, bereaved parents and other emergency service professionals.

On Thursday 21st November 2019 from 10am until noon in the Guildhall Shopping Centre Exeter, on the ground floor, local Mothers’ Union members and supporters are holding a ‘Silent Vigil’ to highlight the issue of domestic abuse in the UK.
