National Trust starts to unwrap Castle Drogo as scaffolding comes down

Scaffolding which has enclosed the National Trust’s Castle Drogo for nearly six years has started to come down, as the project to make the castle watertight progresses, however there’s still work to be done both inside and out.

Whilst the project continues, some scaffolding will remain on a smaller scale for final works to complete around the bottom sections of the castle walls. Visitors over the summer will be able to see the exterior slowly being unwrapped as the first phase of the scaffold ‘strike’ to remove the main bulk progresses. District’s recycling rate increases by 13% in two years thanks to extended recycling service introduced in 2017

East Devon residents have been crowned the recycling champions of the county as the latest Devon-wide statistics for 2018/19 show they now recycle an astonishing 59% of their waste.

The Torbay Guild of Artists (TGA) will be holding a summer festival of art at the Spanish Barn, Torre Abbey, Torquay. The TGA will be joined by members of several other local art societies. There will hundreds of wonderful fine art paintings, as well as sculptures, ceramics, metal work and mosaics on display.

The bay´s art societies have a long tradition of exhibiting and selling high quality paintings. The Devon Art Society of Torquay in particular have been doing so since 1912 when some of the greatest artists of their times were among the founder members.

The Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust have joined forces with Devon County Council and other local businesses to raise awareness and celebrate breastfeeding, as part of Devon County Council’s scheme, Devon Positive about Breastfeeding.
