Exeter Racecourse is offering Armed Service personnel, both serving and retired, the chance to come racing for just £5 each if they pre-book tickets for Sunday, March 24, when the track will be bursting with free entertainment for all the family alongside a seven race card.

The racecourse and Exeter-based 6 Rifles have combined forces to create an action packed day that will also be a fund raiser for the Army’s national charity, the Army Benevolent Fund with £1 of every discounted ticket sold donated to the cause.

Eutopia Homes have thanked residents for their feedback after holding a public exhibition on draft proposals to redevelop the Exmouth Junction, a former Network Rail site, on Prince Charles Road in Exeter.

Plans to develop the site with 465 new homes to buy and rent, as well as retirement homes were displayed to the public at St James Church on Wednesday 27th February.

A juicy future for new Killerton Orchard

On Wednesday 20 February, National Trust staff and volunteers came together with the ‘Great Trees in the Clyst Valley’ project to plant a new orchard on the Killerton estate. The orchard is the ninth that is looked after by the Killerton ranger team, with 48 people rallying together on the day to get stuck in and get dirt under their nails.

A determined buyer travelled from North West Germany to Honiton to secure his bid on the 19th century portrait of a Prussian Grand Duke.

Dr Johann van Lengerich learned of the sale of the portrait at Chilcotts Auctioneers from the internet and was so keen to purchase it that he made the journey on the day of the auction together with his young son.
