Stagecoach staff raise funds at World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event

Stagecoach South West has raised £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support, following a World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event at the Exeter depot.

Staff were able to enjoy a morning cuppa with colleagues, along with a tempting selection of homemade cakes and treats, all of which were available for a small donation to Macmillan.

Project to boost numbers of women in politics runs WOW Exeter workshop

A project to get more women running for political office will be running workshops at the WOW Women of the World Festival, Exeter this weekend on 13th & 14th October at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum.

The Parliament Project is a non-partisan initiative that seeks to inspire, empower and encourage women to run for political office in the UK. It runs information and skills building events and offers peer networking to support women to get elected. Since summer 2016 the Parliament Project has delivered workshops to over 2,000 women in Scotland and England.

HRH The Duke of Gloucester, officially opened Mole Avon Trading’s new £5.2M Country Store in Crediton, Devon on Tuesday 2nd October.

During his visit His Royal Highness met members of staff, company directors and key suppliers to the country store, most of whom are based in Crediton. Prince Richard took the opportunity to view the wide selection of goods that Mole Avon offer their customers, including the new ‘Wellie Wall’ before cutting a cake and unveiling a plaque, to commemorate his visit and the formal opening of the Country Store.

Action packed official opening of new East Devon skate park

Now that construction of East Devon District Council’s brand new skate park at Phear Park in Exmouth is complete, the council and the skate park’s designers Maverick Industries Ltd, would like to invite skateboarders, as well as scooter and BMX riders, to a special opening ‘jam’ event during the autumn half term break on Friday 26 October, from 12pm to 4pm, to help celebrate the opening of this fun facility.

Consultation planned for next stage of Exeter cycle route

A consultation is being launched on proposals for the next stage of a strategic cycle route in Exeter.

Plans for the next section of the E4 cycle route to connect Pinhoe Road to St Katherine’s Way, have been drawn up by Devon County Council and will be available to view online from Monday 15 October to Monday 19 November on the Have Your Say website.

When the entire E4 route is fully developed it will eventually connect developments in the Exeter and East Devon Growth Point to the city centre and Exeter University.

Fundraising for World Suicide Prevention Day and World Mental Health Day today

A £325 share of £1300.00 has been raised by a grateful attendee of Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide 'Sobs' Exeter, and has been presented to co-incide with today's World Mental Health Day.

Monies were from a raffle started on the 10th September 2018 (World Awareness of Suicide Preventation Day), and are being split equally between the Samaritans Taunton, Mind Taunton & West Somerset, Sobs UK and Sobs Exeter.
