Successful survey season for East Devon District Council’s Countryside team

From bats to butterflies and dormice to dragonflies - volunteers joined East Devon District Council’s Countryside team to conduct several surveys to collect a range of wildlife data from local nature reserves across the district during 2017.

Surveys took place at all ten of East Devon District Council’s nature reserves and the data reveals what a huge variety of species there are in these areas.

Huawei, the worlds’ second largest smartphone manufacturer, is today launching a bursary to help Brits follow their dreams. Created to mark the recent launch of the AI powered Mate 10 Pro, the Make It Possible Bursary aims to celebrate and inspire creative and entrepreneurial spirit in the UK and will see £30,000 made available for individuals to make their ambition possible this year.

The bursary was created following research commissioned by Huawei looking at the UK’s goals and dreams which identified that only 15% of the country believes its living up to its full potential....

Margay kitten ventures out!

Staff at Shaldon Wildlife Trust are excited to be seeing Harley, the Margay kitten exploring his outside enclosure. Harley has been snuggled up in his heated den area with mum Josefien for the past few months as he would be in the wild.

Margay are also known as the Tree Ocelot; they have flexible ankles allowing them to run head first down trees. One of only 3 species known to do this! Harley is having great fun learning all the tricks of becoming an independent cat!

In the wild Margay have a very varied diet including small mammals, birds, primates, eggs and frogs!...

Three players from Exeter City's under-18 side offered pro deals

Exeter City are pleased to have offered three professional contracts to players from their under-18s side.

Josh Key, Joel Randall and Harry Kite have all earned pro deals after a successful season that has seen the squad win the Youth Alliance South West Division title by seven points.

It’s been given the moniker Super Sunday, and judging by the entries, Exeter’s meeting this weekend (February 11) looks set to live up to its name.
