East Devon residents are making a real difference to the lives of the homeless and vulnerable this Christmas as their unwanted clothing and textiles go towards funding the invaluable work of The Salvation Army.

Over the last 12 months, households have recycled an astonishing 250 tonnes of clothes, shoes and textiles which they can put in their green recycling boxes and are collected weekly by East Devon District Council’s contractors Suez UK from the kerbside. Kids’ snowflakes bring Christmas cheer to local charity

Hospiscare has been getting in the Christmas spirit with the help of children from across Exeter, Mid and East Devon.

Children from the Exwick Ark Nursery, Little MarVals in Pinhoe, Little Dragons at Clyst St George, Exeter Junior School and Kiddi Caru have been busy making snowflakes to decorate the charity’s Warehouse Store in Marsh Barton.

Green light for custom build homes at Howton Road, Newton Abbot

Teignbridge's Planning Committee today unanimously approved an application for 20 custom build homes to the west of Newton Abbot at Highweek.

The site borders land allocated in the Local Plan at Howton Road. Importantly, this decision unlocks a new road between A382 Bovey Tracey Road and A383 Ashburton Road, running from Forches Cross to Hele Park. This road will provide access to 1150 new homes planned for Houghton Barton.

Police are appealing to the public for their assistance after launching an investigation into a sexual assault in an Exeter Nightclub.

Investigating officer Chris Raddan, said: “This incident relates to an alleged sexual assault within the top floor bar at Rosie’s Nightclub, Mary Arches Street, Exeter, at approximately 12.45am on Sunday 1 October.

Old Mill’s longest serving employee is retiring after 41 years. Di Hale, 69, has been receptionist at the South West-based accountants and financial planners since 1976. Back then, Old Mill was called Berkeley Hall & Co and the offices were on the High Street in Shepton Mallet. Di had moved from her home town of Dunstable in Kent in where she was working for a printing firm to join Old Mill. Almost exactly two years after he purchased the old Millstone Bakery site in Ottery St Mary’s Mill Street, Tickety-Boo owner Stuart Phillips has unveiled an exciting extension to the coffee shop’s popular play kingdom – just in time for Christmas.
