Divorce Day: Festive tensions and finances the final straw

Monday 8th January sees the largest amount of divorce enquiries compared to any other day, with financial pressures (22%), especially over Christmas, cited as leading reason for increased relationship tensions.

Rows about money could cause more than one in 10 married couples to split in 2018, a new study shows – as divorce lawyers prepare for their busiest day of the year.

Twenty-two per cent of people have considered separating or divorcing their partner, with family finances cited as the main reason for relationships falling apart.

The Grand National is one of the most famous steeplechases in the world and has come a long was since that first race back in 1839. The spectators that enjoyed that first race probably would not believe that it would still be enjoyed almost 180 years into the future. An appeal has been issued after an Exeter man went missing in Thailand.

Martin Wood (48) was last seen leaving Dream Boutique Hotel, Petchaburi, 76120 Cha Am, Thailand, by hotel staff, at around 5am on 30th December 2017. He has not been heard from since.

Maritn, who is originally from Crediton, but now lives in Exeter, is 5ft 10ins tall, of medium build, with thinning mousey brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing shorts and a t-shirt. New Help to Heat scheme for Teignbridge residents

Teignbridge District Council is helping residents improve the warmth and comfort of their homes with a new Help to Heat scheme.
