The extraordinary achievements of East Devon households who are now recycling more than ever before following the introduction of a new recycling service this year has won local, national and international environment awards for the district.

A therapeutic secure children's home for young people has had major improvements, thanks to funding from the Department for Education.

In formally opening the new two storey extension, Baroness Elizabeth Butler-Sloss, Patron of Northbrook Community Trust, said that she felt honoured and delighted to be associated with the home. The Chairman of Exeter-based Burrington Estates has been awarded an MBE in recognition of his outstanding service to the construction industry.

Peter Andrew, who is also Deputy Chairman of the Home Builders Federation, was recognised for his achievements in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list.
