Tickets for the 2018 Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink have been released and are now available from the festival website.

For the second year, 2018 sees the festival take place over the early May Bank Holiday weekend, from Saturday 5th May to Monday 7st May, running for all three days of the Bank Holiday.

Exeter research lab opens doors to Cornish boy with diabetes

A research lab at Exeter Medical School opened its doors to an 11-year-old boy who has Type 1 diabetes so that he could learn about groundbreaking research into his condition. Daniel Lindley and his mum Karen from Lostwithiel in Cornwall joined a tour of the Islet Cell Biology lab to meet Professor Noel Morgan and other diabetes researchers who are funded by Diabetes UK. The visitors learnt how Professor Morgan and his team have access to a rare set of pancreas samples, taken from people who had been recently diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. City take narrow victory back to Devon

A Jayden Stockley penalty was the difference as Exeter City beat Grimsby Town 1-0 in Sky Bet League Two.

In a tight affair at Blundell Park, the Grecians battled for a narrow victory after being awarded a first half penalty when Jake Taylor was fouled in the Town box which the City number 11 converted well.

Station Road in Exeter to close for 9 weeks during flood defence work

The construction of the Exeter flood defence scheme is now well advanced with completion of the whole scheme expected at the end of 2018.

The scheme is a partnership between the Environment Agency, Devon County Council and Exeter City Council.

The flood defences will reduce the risk of flooding to more than 3,200 homes and businesses in Exeter.

As part of the new defences being built in the north of the city it will be necessary to close Station Road from 9 April 2018 for nine weeks.

Appeal for information after train guard assaulted

British Transport Police are appealing for information after a train guard was assaulted on a train between Newcourt and Digby and Sowton.

At around 3.40pm on Monday (19 February), four teenagers became abusive towards their train guard when he asked to see the tickets.

The group – made up of three girls and one boy – all spat at him, which landed on his face and uniform.

Though uninjured, it left the guard extremely shaken.
