Foot Anstey grows its trainee programme

Top 100 law firm Foot Anstey has continued its investment in developing lawyers of the future by appointing twelve new trainee solicitors, increasing their Trainee Programme population to twenty four.

The new Trainees each commence a two-year training contract with the firm which sees them work in at least six areas of the law, with leading Foot Anstey partners and lawyers.

Killerton reaches £100k fundraising milestone thanks to public support

Killerton has reached a fundraising milestone after supporters have helped raise £100,000 to put towards the roof conservation project.

The appeal, which was launched in January this year, asked supporters to help raise funds for vital roof repairs to help prevent damage to the much-loved house and collections. The project is now in its final stages and will see the roof being fully restored and conservation work undertaken on the stonework and parapets alongside the reinstatement of historic chimneys that had been previously removed.

Sidmouth and East Devon’s Walking Festival starts on Saturday September 23rd. It is an ideal time to discover some hidden gems along the beautiful South West Coast Path.

Volunteers muck in and clean up Exe Estuary

Almost 150 volunteers gave up their Saturday morning to clean-up the Exe Estuary -- and the good news is that the amount of discarded rubbish blighting the beauty spot is on the decrease.

The usual assortment of rubbish including lumps of concrete, car tyres and broken glass was found during the 20th clean-up of the internationally important Exmouth Local Nature Reserve over the weekend. Local charity Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) has a new initiative for September. The charity is encouraging supporters to donate postage stamps to help raise funds for the charity’s three children’s hospices in the region.

All kinds of stamps can be donated; new, old, used and collectable. Large quantities of stamps can be sold online to collectors, and the money raised will help the hospices to provide support and care for local children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

Reverend Jonathan Greener appointed Dean of Exeter Cathedral

The 71st Dean of Exeter Cathedral is to be the Very Reverend Jonathan Greener, currently the Dean of Wakefield Cathedral in the Diocese of Leeds, Downing Street has announced today.

Jonathan will take up his new role at the end of November, on the Sunday before Advent.

He succeeds the Very Rev Jonathan Draper, who resigned at the end of August.

As Dean of Wakefield, Jonathan carried out the most complete makeover of any Cathedral in recent times, raising £7.5 million and completely transforming the interior, which had been untouched since the 1870s.
